About this Event
Join Martin Black and Pete Butler, CJF
Martin has been shoeing his own horses since he was 12 years old. For 5 decades he has been under inexperienced young horses, tough horses with a history of bad experiences, along with his high-performance competition horses. Although he has never shod horses professionally, he takes pride in keeping his horses sound and the shoes not falling off in extremely adverse conditions.
He’s a firm believer in first impressions for the horse. The first time a foal’s feet are handled plays a big part in how they are to work with in the future. Regardless of the quality of the farrier work, Horsemanship should be the focus for anybody.
He has invited Pete Butler to discuss the lack of horsemanship that is often seen during a farrier visit. Pete teaches at Butler Professional Farrier School in NW Nebraska along with his brother, Jake, and father, Dr. Doug Butler. Pete has been
shoeing for over 19 years. He has studied and practices the methods of the masters of horse behavior modification. He helps students feel comfortable around horses and develop their horse skills. Pete is co-author of the Essential Principles of Horseshoeing and also one of the hosts of the Farrier Focus podcast, found on Apple Music and Stitcher.
Join us with your video, Questions, or come and sit on the fence. This will be a great clinic to learn more about the importance of horsemanship, farrier work, and your role in preparing your horse. Join us!
