A Message from Martin
At this point in my life I have outlived all my old mentors but I still want to learn. I’ve learned that my horses are my best teachers, but I also know there are other ways to learn. Now I not only turn to people I feel have experience I’m seeking with horses, but people that have the science and other knowledge that can make my job easier and life more enjoyable. My friends and acquaintances share their experiences with me.
I enjoy learning, I’m not locked in on only one method, one discipline, one way of teaching. Ray Hunt would say “you may learn something from anyone.” And whoever I can learn from I’d like to share with my clients. Join me with this new phase of teaching now available… streaming.
I’m not sure exactly what that even means but I have people smarter than me to make it happen.
Classic footage in a new format!
In 2006 we began recording film segments for DVD’s, they included Roping Fundamentals, Ranch Roping, Colt Starting, The Round Pen to Arena Series, The Bridle Horse Series and the A-Pen. These are now available in Streaming format! Take them with you anywhere you go to access “follow-along” tips from Martin Black.

Science and Bio Mechanics
In 2010 – Dr. Steve Peters and I met and began collaborating to bring Evidence-Based Science along with practical applications to anyone who wanted to build a better understanding of how to work and develop their communication with horses. In this area you will find EBH Streaming DVDS, Virtual Sessions and Lessons.

A very special series
Frank Barnett and I began working together 20 years ago. He had tough horses to sort through. I wanted to know more about the why and the how he dealt with these horses in a short period of time to get them where they needed to be for the owner to resume at high level competition.
